Now that you know exactly what humans look like inside and out, it's time to learn how to draw guidelines for them. The process is similar to that explained in Lesson 1.1.
This is where knowledge of the human skeleton structure will come in handy. Guidelines are basically the simplified version of skeletons and they're a great way of coming up with a suitable pose for your character. If what you had in mind doesn't seem right, you can easily change the pose into something else. Altering the structure at later stages will be much harder since you will have to erase more, including details you're actually happy with.
There are many ways of drawing them, so as long as you end up with the right body shape, anything is fine; howerver, I will nonetheless teach you my way just to give you an idea.
No worries, we will go over the guidelines for the face and hands in detail later.
As you can see, guidelines don't have to be very detailed to convey information about the skeletal structure. Simple lines for limbs and circles for joints will do.
