Drawing Exercises

Name: ENDLESS STORY

This exercise is simple and fun! I will start by drawing a comic frame, and the next poster will continue the story by drawing another frame.
  • The story can be about anything. You can add your own characters, you can kill them off, you can switch genres, etc.
  • Remember to place speech bubbles strategically
  • You can use your own art style. However, if you are using a specific character, practice trying to make him/her recognizable (i.e. we should be able to tell that they are the same character).
  • The comic frame should be 300px by 300px

When you post your frame, you must also include one thing you like about the previous frame as well as one thing you think he/she should work on.

Name: SHOU THE BAD ACTOR

Shou wants to get a major role in a popular drama, but he really sucks at acting. He's always expressionless no matter what kind of scene he is in, so we need to help him to save his career.

How this exercise works:
We're going to help Shou practice his expressions by naming a scene he stumbles upon, drawing what his expression should be, and naming a new scene for the next person.

For example:
Person 1: "Shou sees a rainbow monkey dancing on top of his manager's head."
Person 2 draws a very confused Shou in disbelief, and then names a new scene for the next person.

I also want you guys to comment on the previous poster's picture. Did he/she succeed in drawing an appropriate expression? If not, what should he/she change in order to succeed?
